CHILDREN’S NURSERY
We are once again staffing our children’s nursery during our Sunday 10:15 worship service. Parents have the option to bring their toddlers/preschoolers to sit with them in worship or let them play in our safe/spacious playroom. Preschool open House
St. Mark Christian Preschool Open House. Our mission is to offer a Christ-centered option for parents who want a hands-on curriculum which will prepare their children for success in Kindergarten. Students must be age 3 by the first day of school. Come see the classroom and meet the Director on either Friday, April 12 from 6-8pm or Saturday, April 13 from 10am-noon. Holy Week at St. Mark
Holy Week Maundy Thursday: 11:30am or 7:00pm. Good Friday: Tenebrae (a service of darkness) noon and 7:00pm. Easter Sunday: Traditional Service at 7am. , The Easter Festival Service is at 9am (with choir) and 11am. He is Risen! He is Risen, Indeed! Alleluia!
BIBLE STUDIES EXPLODING AT ST.MARK
Our Tuesday Morning Bible Study at St. Mark at 11 am has become extremely popular! 37 people this week! Usually led by Pastor Mark Matzke , this last Tuesday was led by Pastor Ron LePere. We are so blessed to have 3 retired (Pastors never really retire) Pastors at St. Mark. Sharing The Good News at Trinity Ohio City
On Saturday Feb 17, 2024, St. Mark members along side members of Trinity Lutheran Ohio City, (TOC) and St. Peter’s , Shaker Heights, served home made Chili and corn bread along with delicious white cake, decorated with bible verses, to the homeless and disadvantaged residents of the local neighborhood. Feb. Men’s Breakfast
On February 10, 2024, men from St. Mark gathered at the Coffee Post on Route 306 in Chesterland to discuss the upcoming Super Bowl. Rev. Gerald Matzke led a discussion and asked questions as to what it takes to be a Super Bowl Champion. Weightlifting, studying the playbook, and mental preparation were some of the answers given. Ladies Luncheon
On Saturday, January 27 the annual St. Mark Ladies Luncheon was held in Fellowship Hall on the St. Mark Campus. For the first time in memory, the men of St. Mark served the ladies with a brunch highlighted by Chicken Cordon Bleu, Caesar Salad, French toast, eggs, potatoes, and other scrumptious offerings. New Bible Study
On Tuesday, January 16th, at 11 am Pastor Mark will begin a new Bible Study entitled “Psalm Shelters in the Storm,” a discussion of six Psalms that give comfort and understanding when times get rough. (Especially at this time of year, keep an eye on weather-related school closings. If West Geauga Schools are closed, we also have a ‘snow day.’)
Dec. Community Lunch
Each month, the ladies at St. Mark provide a free lunch for the Chesterland and neighboring communities. The lunch is always on the last Wednesday of the month. This month’s luncheon featured Spaghetti and Meatballs, salad and rolls Homemade cookies were also served, made by members of our congregation. See you in 2024 on January 31. Happy New Year!
Christmas Cards for Seniors
At St. Mark, on December 17th. We hand-made Christmas Cards to be distributed to the residents of Heather Hill Care Communities. It has been a long-standing Lutheran tradition for congregations to support their local nursing home and to bring the love of Christ to folks who are often lonely and can feel forgotten. All the materials were provided to make beautiful cards. Youngsters and oldsters participated. Special thanks to Marilyn Meyerholt, for organizing and providing the materials.
Christmas at St. Mark
Make your plans now to attend either of our two Christmas Eve Festival services at 12pm or 5 pm. Each will feature a special Christmas Message and a candle lighting event to the hymn Silent Night. Christmas Day will feature a joyous Liturgical at 10 am.
