Mark Zimmerman at St. Mark’s Men’s Breakfast
On February 11, at St. Mark’s monthly men’s breakfast, radio host and St. Mark member Mark Zimmerman (91.9 FM WKJA or heartfelt radio.org) was our guest speaker. Mark interwove scripture with his personal experiences at St. Mark in a message that really hit home to all who attended. Mark, who is also the author of “Eli – The Phenom’s Story: A Historical Novel of the 1946 Baseball Season,” which can be purchased by clicking on this here, gave a short…
St. Mark Valentines
The St. Mark fellowship board plans a lot of fun events at church and in the community. This year they extended their outreach to many of those that can’t make it to church on a regular basis for health reasons or because they are in assisted living. Lori Cudnik, Molly Francis, Diane Keehl, Rebecca Jabs, Tibor and Kathryn Lakatosh, and Margot Fretz assembled baskets that were filled with small valentines items like wood items, glasses, door hangers, puzzle books, cookies…
Debt Reduction Breakfast
Seems like a lot of our special activities at St. Mark revolve around food. Probably true. When we are not in worship or Bible study or spreading the GOOD NEWS, as a congregation, we like to get together and socialize, and that usually involves a meal. Periodically, we have debt reduction breakfasts that fundraise to reduce the principal on our mortgage, which helped pay for our current church building. These breakfasts are sponsored by the women only at one breakfast…
January COMMUNITY Lunch
St. Mark Women’s League host a free lunch on the last Wednesday of every month in the St. Mark Fellowship Hall. On a cold and wintry January 26 late morning and early afternoon, a number of hearty souls ventured out to St. Mark for a delicious lunch of ham sliders, cheesy pasta, fruit cups and assorted desserts. Two young men, Tanis and Thomas, came all the way from the Harvard and Lee neighborhood of the city of Cleveland. Great conversation…

Lutherans In The World
On January 9, 2023, St. Mark hosted its second session entitled “Lutherans in the World.” This session was about a biblical approach to the Critical Race Theory. The session, led by St. Mark Senior Pastor, Mark Matzke started out with this quote from Rev. Dr. Lucas V Woodward, President of the Minnesota South District, Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, “The way forward is with Christ at the center. This means the forgiveness of sins, He won upon the cross, along with…
December Men’s Breakfast
Saturday, December 10, the St. Mark’s monthly men’s breakfast, was held at Guido’s Pizza Haven in downtown Chesterland. We are so grateful that Guidos opens early to host our breakfast, which is catered by their Versare Café and Market, located across Guido’s parking lot. This month’s breakfast featured great conversation, fine food and the singing of the Hymn “Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne.” It was a new hymn to most that attended but thanks to our leader George Fretz, we…

St. Mark’s newly formed “St. Mark Toolbox” is a ministry for those members of our congregation, that have needs in their home that they can’t take care of. Members of St. Mark washed the deck and stained it! Now the couple can walk out their kitchen sliding door and enjoy the…
