2016 St. Mark “This and That Sale”
On Sept. 9th and 10th , St. Mark held it’s annual “This and That” rummage sale. The event took up the entire church , sans the sanctuary, including some of the front lawn. Bargains galore, including pianos,organs, board games, and various items. The money from the sale helps sponsor many of the mission activities at St. Mark. September Men’s Fellowship Breakfast
The men of St. Mark Chesterland, get together once a month for fellowship at Rise and Dine cafe in Chesterland to listen to speakers on various subjects. September’s breakfast featured Rev. August Community Lunch
Sloppy Joes were the main dish this month at the St.Mark “Feed the Flock” community free lunch. Thanks to the wonderful ladies of our women’s league as the serve in many ways. On the last Wednesday of every month, St. Mark opens the doors of our fellowship hall to the surrounding community inviting all to a community lunch at St. Mark. Cleansing of the Chairs at St. Mark 😉
Once every fifty years a number of volunteers at St. Mark get together for the “ritual” of chair cleansing. Seriously, we are grateful for the volunteers that got together on Saturday to power wash and scrub our fellowship hall chairs that have served us well. Young and old got together to man the power washers and brushes and rags ( Gayle Fecsik’s dog also participated). It is fun when brothers and sisters in Christ get together and do a project…
August Men’s Breakfast
Great attendance at the August Men’s Breakfast. Thanks to Rise and Dine Cafe in Chesterland for the great food and hosting our breakfast. This months guest speaker was Pastor Dave Fry from Riverview Church in Novelty OH. Next Breakfast is Sept. 10 at 9 am at Rise and Dine.
Immanuel Lutheran, Downers Grove IL Youth Group
St. Mark entertained a youth group from Immanuel Lutheran Church , Downers Grove IL last weekend as they traveled to Western Pennsylvania for mission work. About 60 youth and adults slept in the St. Mark church and St. Mark members provided dinner on Saturday and a breakfast on Sunday as well as a huge bonfire Sat. night. St. Mark 2016 Vacation Bible School
St. Mark Vacation Bible School 2016 (VBS) took place from July 25th thru July 29th. 55 plus kids enjoyed the theme “Barnyard Roundup” in the St. Mark Sanctuary. The entire St. Mark campus was turned into a Barnyard, sans the smell. Volunteers from the St. Mark congregation plus members of the community helped the children , sing songs, watch videos, hear bible stories, meet biblical characters and pray. They feasted on food like lambs made from marshmallows and pretzels and sandwiches…
