Planting the Fun in FUNdraising
St. Mark Women’s League has three major fundraisers each year. The Spring Plant Sale, The Fall “This and That Sale”and the Gift of the Magi Boutique. Last weekend, starting on Friday May 18 and continuing through Sunday, St. Mark opened their doors to the community for an opportunity to put some Spring in their yards by purchasing plantable plants and hanging baskets. Summer Worship Schedule Beginning June 10, there will be two worship services each Sunday. 8:15 a.m. will continue to be the traditional Lutheran Litugical service; 9:45 a.m. will alternate between The Gathering (Hymns and Contemporary “Praise” Music) and the contemporary service (Contemporary “Praise” Music). April Community Lunch
On April 26, 2018, St. Mark hosted it’s monthly community lunch. There is no charge as members of the Chesterland and surrounding area gather in St. mark’s fellowship hall and have a great meal and conversation. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A ST. MARK MEMBER TO ATTEND. Katie the Owl Visits St. Mark Preschool
Tim Cunnigham, Wildlife Ed Specialist from the Lake County Metro Parks, Penitentiary Glen visited St. Mark Preschool on Wednesday April 25, 2018. Tim brought special guest, Katie the owl, Katie had received medical attention for some muscle problems at Lake Metro Parks and now visits schools and other venues to aquatint people with her background and opportunities available for nature education at the Lake Metro Park, Penitentiary Glen.

Collecting Donations for Womansafe
WOMENSAFE DONATIONS IN THE ST. MARK CHURCH LOBBY Women’s League is collecting personal items to give as gifts for Mother’s Day to the residents of the Womensafe Shelter. Items such as shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion, fuzzy socks, manicure tools, hairbrushes and combs are just some ideas of gifts. Donations will be accepted through May 6th. April Men’s Breakfast
Rev. Gerald Matzke made a presentation about the church history surrounding the Sunday after Easter at the monthly April men’s breakfast at the Rise and Dine Cafe in Chesterland. Pastor Matzke’s presentation about “Low Sunday” , the name associated with the first Sunday after Easter , featured historical background and a number of humorous saying and jokes associated with the traditional revelry on that Sunday. Easter Basket Outreach
The members of St. Mark filled 127 Easter Baskets with gifts for the children of Geauga County. Each basket was special, pink for girls, blue for boys. A note from the St. Mark congregation was included in each basket. The baskets were loaded on “Prayer Force One”, the church bus and were delivered to Geauga Jobs and Family Services. , on March 22, 2018. Thanks to Monica McGurer for the photos
