September was a busy month at St. Mark. After Labor Day we resumed our 3 services, Sunday 8:15 AM, 9:45 AM, and 11:00 AM. Vicar Chris Ryan had his official installation at St. Mark on September 8th. Vicar Ryan continues his studies through the Specific Ministry Program at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis Missouri.
The annual St. Mark “This and That” sale was also in early September. The event helps raise funds for the St. Mark Women’s League special projects. The “This and That Sale” took over the entire church and outside pavilion only the Sanctuary was kept clear of rummage. The women’s league collects all sorts of items with the exception of clothing. Residents from the surrounding community purchased these gently used items and the funds go toward special projects. It takes a tremendous effort to accumulate and sort items, like children’s toys to jewelry. Thanks to all the St. Mark members who participated over many months of preparation.
St. Mark supports the clothing ministry at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Ohio City neighborhood of Cleveland, OH. On our last visit those managing the ministry said that they were running low on clothing for the ministry. With winter right around the corner, this was a cause of concern. Members of St. Mark responded by stuffing the church bus, “Prayer Force One” with clothing from front to back. The volunteers at Trinity were waiting with open arms as the bus pulled into the parking lot at Trinity Lutheran. The volunteers at Trinity Lutheran told us to keep an eye out for those wearing the donated clothing as we drive through the city. To God be the glory.
